A Weekend Excursion to Kovalam!! By Hollie, 12/1

We finished up at school this week and headed over to the hotel to checkout for our big weekend ahead, but first the 5-hour drive! Srini, our driver, took care of us through every near collision, passing truck, elephant, cow, or person we encountered. It reminded me of my first time driving with mom – the “break foot” and the mini seizures around every turn. The only thing she couldn’t do was yell and flail her arms everywhere until we got there – but I could feel her holding back and she was kneading into my leg with her fingers.

 

We reached the hotel in the late afternoon and enjoyed the rest of the day to ourselves. First was snack, and I will NEVER expect something like a BLT or anything from home to be the same here. I was quite sad, but we moved on to our Ayurveda massages. Mom took the full body challenge again and I was happy with just my little facial, and keeping my clothes on! I was done early so I took the chance to look at the sunset that I swear only appeared in photo shopped magazine photos. I watched for a while and met mom for some Christmas shopping and dinner with the AMAZING nan bread we had been waiting for, made right before our eyes!! Now it is time to sleep and another fun day tomorrow when we head to Kanyakumari.
